| ZOMG Haul! |
- two refills for the Da Bird
- one new Da Bird wand with bird
- feather poof for the Da Bird wand
- foil balls
- Nekoflies wand
- Nekoflies catipede
- fish for water play
- two boinks
- travel litterbox (Medium) from Sturdiproducts
We have used all of the toys and by far the simple foil balls have been the most appreciated toy along with the boinks (purple and yellow tubes). The foil balls makes noise and are light, so easy and fun for the kittens to chase around and play with, with or without your involvement. So far, no damage done, they are all holding up for the abuse and for the price it's pretty outstanding. Thumbs up!
I wanted to try the Nekoflies product for the same reason I tried the Da Bird, it's frequently used in the "My Cat from Hell" an Animal Planet TV-show (worth watching if you are a cat lover and interested in cat behaviour). The cats do like it, they do not go as crazy as they do with the Da Bird, but more in a stalker/predatory way. Great to use in the cat wheel to get the cats going and in contrast to the Da Bird it can take more of a beating, however the kittens seem less possessive and more curious about it though. Probably also good for cats with lower energy. The wand is probably half the length of the Da Bird wand, more sturdy since it is a single piece of plastic instead of two pieces (the Da Bird wand sometimes split during playtime, which is annoying). Thus it is easier to play with in a smaller area and also fun to use in a kitty cardboard house, cat tree or similar.
Now the Da Bird refill I am disappointed with. It seem to not be of the same quality as the one that came with the wand. Could just be a bad batch, and I have only opened one of the two refills, but it is slightly bent and does not spin around the way the first bird we had. Not happy with that.
The other toy to use with the wand however, is a real hit. Styx loves feather toys. He is a gentle and very sweet kitten - until he gets hold of either Da Bird or this new extension (no idea what it is called). It looks like fur, but it is feathers, and feathers must die in Styx mind (see video below). It is a great option for play on the ground rather than jumping for Da Bird. It also seem to take a beating a bit better due to being more dense. Thumbs up!
We are currently just in the process in letting the kittens explore water, so I can't give a honest review on the floaty fish yet. It is very rubbery, floats and seem durable - time will tell. Same with the travel litterbox from Sturdibox, we have not used it yet so a review will have to come later. First impression was that it looks durable, sturdi (har har) and deep enough. It is foldable and looks very water tight. Will get back with a review after some use.
I have read that Frenzy cat toys are supposed to be really good and of better quality than Da Bird. I will include some of their products in my next haul for sure and see what my judgement is.
Now time for some possessive kitten footage!
