Bengal cats

So why Bengals? What are they? Why do they cost so much? Why are they the "Rolls Royce" of cats?

Bengal facts - sort of

The Bengals is a mix between a wild Asian Leopard Cat, Felis Bengalensis, and a domestic shorthair. This means they are a handful. They are active, very social and interactive breed, like a feline dog really. We really love these traits and that is why we fell in love with the breed. Of course the wild appearance, colours, leopard spots and spotted tummy are things we absolutely love too!

In the youtube video from animal planet above they mention a "bark" however, it is not the only sound of Bengals. The parents, Essi and Dandy to our kittens Styx and Skadi are very chatty but it was normal meowing.
One thing that the video does not mention is the fact that Bengals usually L O V E S water. Not just dipping paws, we're talking the whole jumping-into-water-or-join-you-in-the-shower kind of water love.
Bengals are also cats that you take for a walk, on a lead like a dog. You can take them along hiking as long as you train them to jump up on you when tired.
They are very clever (and of course also unclever in a way cats can only be) and you can teach them tricks, Kaiser the Bengal cat on youtube is a good example.

Some good informative videos about Bengals from BeckattBengals in Australia (for anyone interested) beware, the sound is rather low:
Colours and variations, part 1

Personality, part 2

Maintenance and Care, part 3

BeckattBengals mentions raw diet in the video, that is something we will look into and review in time
